The correct answer is Humans migrated to Europe before they migrated to Australia.

Explanation:

The description of the map explains the migration patterns of the first humans. According to this, humans communities first developed in Africa and then moved to other regions and continents of the world. The first continent they reached was Europe, which occurred in 100.000 BCE as human communities traveled to southern Europe, from this they reached Asia and later Australia. However, humans migrated to Australia only in 50,000 BCE; this clearly shows humans first migrated to Europe than to Australia.

Which was not a direct result of the great depression
tigry1 [53]
Let's look at our options. A is obviously not the answer. The great depression is remembered for causing great factory closures and high unemployment, and we are looking for what is NOT the direct result. B is possible. Farming was an alternative to city work, so many went to the dust bowl and farmed it to oblivion, making their situation worse. However, people started moving west long before the depression. C is another obvious no. The depression made many lose their jobs and basically eliminated the middle class, making the gap between the very rich and the very poor much bigger. Obvious result of the depressionD is your best answer probably. The original prohibition amendment was in effect form 1920 until 1933, and the depression didn't start until 1929. Therefore, the amendment which was passed to enact Prohibition would have had nothing to do with the great depression. The amendment which later repealed prohibition was mostly attributed to the fact that it had failed. Crime was worse (mobs and mobsters like al capone), people drank anyway, and the government could not practically enforce it. I suppose you could say that the government no longer had the money to enforce it by the end because of the depression, but the government was struggling in that long before the stock market crashed in '29. I would go with D, as it fits best.

What was unique about the Ottoman Janissary soldiers?
Kaylis [27]

The correct answer is They were slave soldiers who gained social status through war.

Explanation: The Ottoman Janissary was the army elite of the Ottoman sultans. The force, created by Sultan Murade I, consisted of Christian children captured in battle, taken as slaves and converted to Islam.

They were educated in Islamic law and the Turkish language, while learning to handle weapons and educated in the military arts. Young people grew up with their own sultan as a father figure, for whom they would be willing to defend to death even against their own people of origin.

The young Christians, owed their allegiance only to the sultan, and would fight any enemy for him.
