The proclamation of 1763 was made by the king George III after the seven years long French Indian war that saw the British acquiring a large portion of French territories in North America.

The act was made by the King to Conciliate the Native American ( Indians ) in order to checkmate encroachment. the Act forbade any settlement  to be made west of a line drawn along the Appalachian Mountains. this area was reserved as Indian reserve.
