Answer:

They build infrastructure.

Explanation:

The strengthening of the rule of law and the promotion of human rights are the cornerstones of the work of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to achieve sustainable human development and eradicate extreme poverty. Through its assistance in the rule of law and human rights, UNDP contributes to the consolidation of peace and democratic governance in the full range of development contexts. UNDP also facilitates broader activities to promote the rule of law of the United Nations in environments affected by crises and conflicts through the work of the Global Focal Point for Police, Judicial and Correctional Aspects.

The key areas of UNDP work in relation to the rule of law and human rights are the following:

Improve access to justice and legal remedies, and help people to assert their rights;

Assist governments in establishing justice systems capable, among other things, of the rapid restoration of justice services and dispute resolution mechanisms after crises or conflicts (directed, in particular, to previously marginalized communities);

Increase community security and reduce armed violence, inter alia, by curbing the proliferation of small arms and light weapons;

Address sexual and gender-based violence and increase women's participation and leadership in justice and security institutions, particularly in contexts of peacebuilding and recovery;

Support the promotion and protection of human rights, in particular the strengthening of the work of national human rights institutions, support collaboration with international human rights mechanisms and promote the application of a human rights-based approach to programming for development and national planning processes; Y

Support transitional justice to promote reparation for violence and human rights violations in the past and enable societies to recover from the aftermath of violence.
