1. It was already one in the morning; the rain pattered dismally against the panes, and my candle was nearly burnt out, when, by the glimmer of the half-extinguished light, I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a convulsive motion agitated its limbs.

-Personification is shown in this excerpt, specifically in the line "I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a convulsive motion agitated its limbs." Because the author is giving human like characteristics to the light.

2. Mingled with this horror, I felt the bitterness of disappointment; dreams that had been my food and pleasant rest for so long a space were now become a hell to me; and the change was so rapid, the overthrow so complete!

- The line "for so long a space were now become a hell to me; and the change was so rapid, the overthrow so complete" uses a metaphor because the vents that take place aren't literally hell, but they are describing it in a way that makes it feels that way.

Answer:

In excerpt 1 the narrator associates colors and forms from inanimate objects to a living being. Looking to personify them.

In excerpt 3 the narrator describes a scene and the way it commoved so much that thanks to it he discovered t appreciate the objects outside his mind. Making use of Imagery.

Explanation:

In excerpt 1 he resembles and establishes similarities between colors, forms o unanimated and lifeless objects to a living being. Using the "personification" figurative element helping him to explain the aspect of the creature he was describing for the reader to find a point of reference in real life. In this case, the meaning in the paragraph seeks to establish an objective connection between common objects at the hand of the reader, to establish the likeness of a fiction creature.

In excerpt 3 the narrator describes objectively the scene that triggered his emotions and mentions how he discovered to appreciate the objects outside his mind and body. Thanks to the amazing beauty of that moment.

A flagged word is one that is misspelled. (Points : 2) True False
Nastasia [14]
I think the correct answer is false. A flagged word is not the one that is misspelled. It does not necessarily indicate a misspelled word. It just means that the word is not in  the dictionary. Hope this answers the question. Have a nice day.
