\frac{1}{16}  =  \frac{x}{97}
where x = the amount of pounds in 97 ounces. 

Cross-multiply:

16x = 97

Divide both sides by 16

x = 97/16 = 6.0625

There are 6.0625 pounds in 97 ounces.
