The correct answer is : A. The Barbados leaders also governed South Carolina in its initial years.

South Carolina was first settled in 1670 by immigrants from Barbados, who arrived in three ships with the authorization from King Charles II to establish a colony in the south part of Chesapeake. That being said, Carolina was the only colony to be occupied by colonists from other colonies different from England.

Many of those settlers came from Barbados with their slaves, these slaves brought their knowledge of growing rice, but also they were used in the sugar plantations when sugar cane was introduced in 1640 to the colony. These colonists also brought the slave codes with them, which were used to control the large number of slaves and invalidate their fundamental rights.

South Carolina expanded quickly and many people prosper economically. Although its culture was primarily based on the Barbadian system with time it transformed and began to separate from the island colony cultures that pursue in the caribean.
