. At some production levels, its average variable costs are less than $1.50, but there is not production level where its average total cost is equal or less than $1.50. What would be your recommendation to the pencil manufacturer?

Answer: That means that the company is losing profits, therefore I would recommend continuing to produce in the short term, so that you do not lose more as it would be if you stop producing.

In the long term, unless prices go up or costs go down, I would recommend the  pencil manufacturer not to continue producing and going out of business.

A firm operates in a perfectly competitive industry. Suppose it has a short run total cost function given by TC= 10000 +0.04q2 .
iren2701 [21]

Answer:

700

Explanation:

The condition for maximizing profits is Marginal cost = Price.

1. We need to calculate the marginal cost, which is the first derivative of the total cost function.

  • marginal cost = (TC=10000+0.04q2=) '

  • MC=0.08q

2. Now, we equalize the MC to the price and solve for q.

0.08q=56

q=56/0.08

<h2>q=700</h2>

Suppose you just bought a 25-year annuity of $8,200 per year at the current interest rate of 12 percent per year. What is the va
zhannawk [14.2K]

Answer:

64,313.74 ; 95,559.38 ; 47,283.11

Explanation:

by definition the present value of an annuity is given by:

a_{n} =P*\frac{1-(1+i)^{-n} }{i}

where a_{n} is the present value of the annuity, i is the interest rate for every period payment, n is the number of payments, and P is the regular amount paid. so applying to this particular problem, we have:

1. P=8,200, n=25, i=12%

a_{n} =8,200*\frac{1-(1+12\%)^{-25}}{12\%}

a_{n} =64,313.74

2. P=8,200, n=25, i=7%

a_{n} =8,200*\frac{1-(1+7\%)^{-25} }{7\%}

a_{n} =95,559.38

3. P=8,200, n=25, i=17%

a_{n} =8,200*\frac{1-(1+17\%)^{-25} }{17\%}

a_{n} =47,283.11

Behavioral economistsLOADING... attribute some consumer behavior to the endowment effect. Which of the following is an example o
mestny [16]

Answer:  Option C

Explanation: As per the subject matter of behavioral economics, endowment effect refers top the phenomenon under which it is assumed that a rational individual will retain a commodity he or she already owns rather than acquiring the same commodity if he do not own it.

Hence from the above we can conclude that correct option is C as it states that one will not sell a painting even though at a price that the holder would pay to purchase it himself.

Assume that the risk-free rate of interest is 5% and the expected rate of return on the market is 17%. A stock has an expected r
crimeas [40]

Answer:  ER(P) = Rf + β(Rm-Rf)

                 6      = 5 + β(17-5)

                 6      = 5 + β(12 )

            6 - 5     = 12β

                1        = 12β

                 β       =  1/12

                 β       = 0.083

Explanation: In determining the Beta of the stock, we need to apply capital asset pricing formula and then make Beta the subject of the  formula. Other variables will be substituted with the exception of Beta, which becomes the subject of the formula.
