Answer:

Answer is D. Transform faults.

Explanation:

The transform fault is situation where the tectonic plates slide past one another. It can also be described as a conservative boundaries because it does lead to the creation or destruction of crust. But , the build up of pressure between two plates along the faults can produce earthquakes.

In this case, volcanoes settings can not be found in the transform faults because there is absence of volcanoes vent, which will allow the passage of the molten rock to the surface.

Answer:

d. Transform faults

Explanation:

In geology, transform faults are formed when two tectonic plates slide past each other. An example of a transform fault is the San Andreas fault zone of Western North America. Transform plates can cause earthquakes and Tsunamis but can hardly form volcanoes because they are a lateral motion and are less able to generate volcanism. On the contrary, mid-ocean ridges are formed as a result of underwater volcanic activities and can cause volcanoes.

Subduction zones can also cause volcanoes because they result from a sinking force of the lithosphere thereby exposing the hot mantle which can lead to volcanic eruptions.

Lastly, continental rifts can also cause volcanoes because it results from the ripping apart of tectonic plates thereby exposing the earths mantle which can cause volcanic eruption.
