Outlines help you organize information in a way that helps you to put it on paper afterwards. They won’t be helpful in estimate the word count of the paper because you typically add more words to the final product. You should already have your topic before starting your outline so it won’t be helpful to think of topic ideas. Outlines also won’t help to assess the validity of research sources.
