Eva is the nickname of Evangeline St. Clare, a character in<em> Uncle Tom's Cabin</em>. Eva is the daughter of Augustine St. Clare, a Southern slave owner who eventually buys Tom. Eva is sweet, but she is also frail and sickly. Her character is meant to embody all the beautiful qualities of God and the angels. We learn that she is non-judgemental, self-sacrificing and spiritual, just like Christ was. However, one characteristic she does not have is that she is not poor.
