Answer:

The dimensions of the original garden is 27\times25\ ft.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the width of the rectangular garden be 'x'.

Now given:

A rectangular garden is 2 feet longer than it is wide.

so we can say that;

Length of the rectangle = (x+2) \ ft

Now to fence the garden we need to find the perimeter of the garden.

Now Perimeter of the garden is equal to twice the sum of the length times width.

framing in equation form we get;

Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(x+x+2)=2(2x+2)=4x+4

Now given:

If the width is doubled, 50 extra feet of fencing will be needed

It  means that Perimeter of the doubled width rectangle is equal to perimeter of original garden plus 50.

framing in equation form we get;

2(2x+x+2)=4x+4+50\\\\2(3x+2)=4x+50

Now Applying distributive property we get;

2\times3x+2\times2=4x+54\\\\6x+4=4x+54

Combining the like terms we get;

6x-4x=54-4\\\\2x=50

Dividing both side by 2 we get;

\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{50}{2}\\\\x=25 \ ft

Length of the rectangular garden = x+2=25+2=27\ ft

Hence the dimensions of the original garden is 27\times25\ ft.

Klio2033 [76]

Answer:

x = 25

Step-by-step explanation:

.20x + .68(120 - x) = .54(120) (Distribute .68 to 120 and -x)

.20x + 81.6 - .68x = .54(120) (multiply .54 and 120)

.20x + 81.6 - .68x = 69.6 ( add .20x and -.68x)

-.48x + 81.6 = 69.6 ( subtract 81.6 on each side)

-.48x = -12 (divide -12 by -.48)

x = 25

Use the given information to bound the p-value of the F statistic for a one-tailed test with the indicated degrees of freedom. F
lianna [129]

Answer:

The range of the <em>p</em>-value is: 0.050 < <em>p</em>-value < 0.100.

Step-by-step explanation:

For checking the equivalence of two population variances of independent samples, we use the <em>f</em>-test.

The test statistic is given by:

F=\frac{S_{1}^{2}}{S_{2}^{2}}\sim F_{\alpha, (n_{1}-1)(n_{2}-1)}

It is provided that the hypothesis test is one-tailed.

The computed value of the test statistic is:

<em>F</em> = 4.23.

The degrees of freedom of the numerator and denominator are:

df_{1}=4\\df_{2}=5

Use MS-Excel to compute the <em>p</em>-value as follows:

Step 1: Select function fX → F.DIST.RT.

Step 2: A dialog box will open. Enter the values of f-statistic and the two degrees of freedom.

*See the attachment below.

Step 3: Press OK.

The <em>p</em>-value is, 0.0728.

The range of the <em>p</em>-value is:

0.050 < <em>p</em>-value < 0.100
