Who is Romeo? Where has he been throughout the play so far, how has he been behaving, and what is bothering him when he appears?
yarga [219]

Answer:

Romeo Montecchi is the protagonist of William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. The name Romeo became a household name for a young man in love, as well as a symbol of unhappy love. Romeo first appears in the play in the first scene of the first act, shortly after a short battle between the servants of Montecchi and Capulet on Verona Street. Romeo, the only son and heir of Montecca, is depicted by Shakespeare as an Italian stereotypical for that time - impulsive and romantic.

Romeo is struggling with his unrequited love for the beautiful Rosalina. His cousin Benvolio and friend Mercutio, wanting to distract him from love thoughts, persuaded him to go to the masquerade ball in the house of Capulet, hiding their identities with masks. Tybalt, the nephew of Herr Capulet and Juliet's cousin, recognizes and wants to drive Romeo away, but the landlord stops him. Romeo and the owner’s daughter Juliet fall in love at the ball, kiss and later find out that they come from warring families.

The election of African Americans to office sharply declined beginning in the late 1870s and 1880s because of _____.
Ratling [72]

The best answer is D

Violence - Black who tried to vote were threatened , beaten and killed. Their families were also harmed. Sometimes, their homes were burned down. Often, they lost their jobs or were thrown off their farms.

Poll tax -  In southern states , many blacks could not vote because they could not afford the  poll tax which amounted to $ 25  to $50 in today's money.

Literacy tests - Many black and white people could not read or write. White officials usually claimed that whites  who were illiterate could understand what was being read to them  even though they couldn't read and so were still allowed to vote.

But when it came to illiterate blacks, the white officials claimed they could not  even understand what was read to them,  and on the basis of that, they were not allowed to vote.
