Answer:

The first blank can be correctly filled up with proteins.

Proteins are complex molecules which play many crucial roles in the body such as structural role (actin, myosin, keratin), movement, metabolism (enzymes), signal transduction, transport, and defense. In addition, they also determine many traits of the body as they are the last result of the gene expression.

The second and third blanks can be correctly filled up by DNA (deoxyribose sugar).

DNA is the genetic material in most of the organisms including humans. It contains all the information or blueprint for the synthesis of proteins which in turn help in determining the traits of a person.

The last blank can be filled up by the gene.

A gene refers to the unit of heredity which is present on the chromosome. It refers to the protein coding region of the DNA.

Commercial logging destroyed __________ percent of old-growth forests.
Nitella [24]

Commercial logging destroyed 45 percent of old-growth forests.

Logging, or commercial logging, involves cutting trees for sale as timber or pulp. The timber is used to build homes, furniture, etc. and the pulp is used to make paper and paper products. Logging is generally categorized into three categories:  selective, clear-cutting and strip logging.

  • Selective logging is selective because loggers choose only wood that is highly valued, such as mahogany.
  • Clear-cutting is not selective. Loggers are interested in all types of wood and therefore cut all of the trees down, thus clearing the forest, hence the name- clear-cutting.
  • Strip logging involves the clear-cutting of a relatively thin strip of forest that parallels a river (goes along the river) along a slope.  A gallery forest (bordering the river) is left intact, but a strip is cut immediately upslope and the desirable timber is removed by a road that is also designed to parallel the river. Following this, another strip is cut several years later immediately upslope to the first strip and the road.

A farmer raising cattle for beef production has divided his range into four quadrants of equal size which quadrant of range land
Kaylis [27]

Answer:

The quadrant with more probabilities of overgrazing would be the one in which the drinkers and the rest zone is.

Explanation:

When a farmer has cattle for beef, most of them divide the land in quarters and limit each of them, this is to keep the cattle in only one quarter to make sure they eat all the forages in there and then they pass to the next quarter, this gives the other quarters (the forage) time to grow properly.

If the farmer uses all the four quarters, the  natural behavior of the cattle would make the quarter that has the drinkers and the rest zone to be more likely to have an overgrazing.

This is because cows look for their aliments near them and near their comfort zone, they only move when the forage of that area is over.
