Love that book! This seems like it's partly an opinion question. Let's think through this: think about how the story unfolds as you rad the book, how you learn about the characters and how the author chose to guide you through the reading. These are all deliberate craft moves that are supposed to get a reaction out of you. If you felt like you were engaged in the text the entire time, then the structure of the text kept you interested. If at any point you though, "man this needs to get to the point," then these craft moves didn't particularly work for you.
