Mallam Sile is an African short story about a legally blind man who sells tea in Kumasi. The culture in the story evolves around the tea seller's religion which is Islam. As a Muslim, he cares deeply for his aged parents and leaves home at the young age of 12 to find work. Moreover, because of his blindness, many people deceive Mallam Sile, but he does not take it to heart and feels that he should treat everyone with kindness, as is the epitome of the Islamic religion.

There would be no laws, rules or regulations regarding the environment, traffic safety devices, or repair of streets and roads. Sidewalks wouldn't be shoveled and open to the public. Crimes would be committed, and there would be no punishment or rehabilitation.

Being new is not sufficient.
Popularity right now is not enough.
Someone liking the poem now is not enough.

Does a poem conform to the new times?
Is a poem individual and different?
These are coexisting requirements for a poem to be valuable.

>is a work of art that conforms completely really a work of art?

"Conforming", in the sense of forming the leadership for a new age.
Yes, conforming is a necessary, but not sufficient requirement for a poem:
"its fitting in is a test of its value–a test,"

>should contemporary works of art be judged as “better” or “worse” than past ones?

There is no way that new poems be as bad as old poems, or their canons.
"certainly not judged by the canons of dead critics."</span>

Sam must use both primary and secondary sources to write a research paper on the evolution of jazz music. Identify whether each source he used is a primary or secondary source.

Primary or secondary

An interview with a jazz musician-

An autobiography written by a jazz singer-

A magazine article about a jazz singers latest tour-

A movie about a jazz singers life

Answer:

An interview with a jazz musician-  primary source

An autobiography written by a jazz singer- primary source

A magazine article about a jazz singers latest tour-  secondary source

A movie about a jazz singers life- secondary source

Explanation:

A primary source has to do with a firsthand or eyewitness account of an event such as interviews, personal diaries, etc.

A secondary source usually gives second hand information, eg, newspaper publication, textbooks etc

The classification of Sam's sources as primary or secondary has been shown in the answer section.

The primary sources deal with materials in which the jazz musician speaks or writes about jazz music while secondary sources are related by other people other than the jazz musician.
