Associative property is fun. My old teacher would tell me that when you use the associative property YOU CAN GO CRAZY WITH PARENTHESIS. Associative property is changing the parenthesis. 12 is 15% of 80

Steps to solve "12 is 15 percent of what number?"

We have, 15% × x = 12

Multiplying both sides by 100 and dividing both sides by 15,

we have x = 12 ×

x = 80

If you are using a calculator, simply enter 12×100÷15, which will give you the answer.
