In this excerpt from Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, what President Lincoln is implying is that It is the sacrifice of the soldiers that has truly made the place sacred. The Gettysburg Address was delivered by Abraham Lincoln in 1863, in Soldier's National Cemetery, a cemetery for Union soldiers killed at the Battle of Gettysburg. He honored them and reminded the people that they had sacrificed for equality, freedom and national unity, so they have made the place sacred.

Identify and evaluate the poets use of rhyme and meter in this poem La Belle Dame san Merci a Ballad
djyliett [7]

Answer:

The rhyme scheme is ABCB.

In relation to the metric, the poem follows the following pattern:

3 first verses: iambic tetrameter (the verses vary between 8 and 9 syllables)

Last verse: iambic dimeter or iambic trimeter (verses vary between 4 and 5 syllables)

Explanation:

The poem is a literary ballad, inspired by the folk ballads of medieval times. It is possible to observe several characteristics typical of a ballad, as the centralization in a single event (the story of the lady reported by the knight), presentation of the story through a dialogue (in the first three stanzas, the unknown narrator is talking to the knight, and the rest of the poem is the knight's response), use of few figures of language as metaphors and metonymy, and creation of an atmosphere (at the beginning of the poem, the narrator describes the nature as dead), and little information about the characters.

What is the correct form of contraction for the underlined words in the sentence? She has eaten that meatless chili three times
tigry1 [53]
The correct answer is B. 'She's'. When making a contraction, take the two words that you want to make into a contraction and replace at least one letter from the second word with an apostrophe.

She has
In this case, these are the words that we're trying to turn into a contraction. There really isn't any way to explain why we use 'She's' instead of 'She'as', except that 'She's' is the commonly accepted word in the English language.

She's
Now, replace the letters 'h' and 'a' with an apostrophe.

Hope this helps!
