James Brown was the artist who recorded the lyrics of the song ("Say It Loud - I'm Black and Proud") which came out during the height of the black power movement, quickly became a black power anthem, and inspired black Americans, who had faced a lot of political and economic challenges in America. The song addressed the prejudice faced by black Americans, and asked them stand up for themselves regardless of the issues they faced at the time.
