Answer:

It is believed by many that the advance in technology is great for our society, but basing my opinion on how technology has already altered our lifestyles, I think it is safe to say that technology could actually be harmful to our futures. With movies and novels based on a technologically advanced future have already been released, it paints a picture for our futures and what the worls around us could look like. It has already taken over with social media and phone usage. There are 6 year olds nowadays walking around with Iphones. As technology advances, it is likely we could lose job opportunities, develop an increase in mental health issues and depression or even obesity.

Answer:ADDING ONTO 0330’s answer. The rise of social media has given the general population accessibility to more information to worry about. It encourages the following of trends and provides a new tool for criminals to use in rather... disgusting ways. Politicians and people can voice their opinions to a widespread audience and have a great chance of influencing children to develop negative and critical opinions early on in life. For example during the 2016 election, all of my other classmates would say things about "trump is this" and "trump is that." I had no Idea what they we're talking g about because I didn't have a phone until this year. There have been times I have been ignored by my mother because she was on social media, or my friend would do nothing but be on social media all of the time. Though the technology has its benefits, there are many aspect that hurt the social scructure of our species.

Why did the United States and Europe wanted to open Asia up to international trade? What made Asia an ideal place for trade?
ozzi

1) Asia has a LOT of people which meant more money for them if they could open up trading ports and such.

2) Asia had things like gunpowder, silk, spices, basically what was considered rare goods at the time.

(And a secret 3d reason, Asia was pretty far ahead in most sciences and mathematical studies and if you could sneak a trader in there to get some of that knowledge then all the better)

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached, we can say the following.

International rivalries affected Europe's colonization of Africa in that they split the African territory, divided towns, displaced people, and created new borders because these powerful European nations wanted to colonize Africa and exploit their raw materials and natural resources.

The Scramble for Africa refers to European nations wanting the biggest and richest colonies in Africa.

After the Berlin Conference of 1844-1845, European superpowers agreed on regulating the split of the African Continent. These European superpowers such as France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, and Portugal split the African territory, displaced people, and created new borders in order to colonize the territories.

What Europeans really wanted was to exploit the many raw materials and natural resources that were abundant in Africa, in order to make big profits.

How was Massachusetts Bay Colony simultaneously theocratic, democratic, oligarchic, and authoritarian?
LiRa [457]

Answer:

The Massachusetts Bay Colony government was able to be, at least partially, simultaneously theocratic, democratic, oligarchic, and authoritarian. It was able to be partly theocratic because of the doctrine of the covenant, which stated that the whole purpose of government was to enforce God’s laws. God’s laws applied to everyone, even nonbelievers. Everyone also had to pay taxes for the government-supported church. This meant that religious leaders held enormous power in the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

They were able to effectively control who was admitted to the church by conducting public interrogations of people who claimed to have experienced conversion. The last reason it was partially theocratic was one of the main governors, John Winthrop, believed he had a “calling” from God to lead the Massachusetts colony. The Massachusetts Bay Colony was partially democratic for a couple of reasons. First, the freemen elected the governor and his associates each year. The freemen also voted for a representative assembly called the General Court. The Colony was also partly an oligarchy.

It was an oligarchy because only Puritans could be freemen and were eligible to vote. Puritans were even more limited because religious leaders could control who was admitted into the church. Finally, the Massachusetts Bay Colony was partially authoritarian. This was partially because many of the residents were Puritans. Puritans shared in the “Protestant Ethic”, which involved serious commitment to work and to engagement in worldly pursuits. Everyone was held to these standards because of this. Everyone was expected to do this, even if they weren’t Puritan.
