The 20th century represented a new period in world civilization because it came with new technologies, new political forms, and a change in cultural secularization. Also there was a change in political boundaries and there was a massive comunication between international countries by means of extensive trades, international alliances and cultural exchange.
The Emancipation Proclamation given by President Lincoln on January 1st 1863 gave rights to all African Americans, to be free, allow them to travel, and work as they wish for pay.
