English
1 answer:
hodyreva [135]4 years ago
3 0

Answer:

A It emphasizes the lack of response: no answer was given at all.

Explanation:

In Herman Melville's Bartleby the Scrivener, the story revolves around the incompatibility of the narrator/ lawyer who hired Bartleby. But due to his 'weird' change in not heeding his boss's words, the narrator wonders why Bartleby suddenly decided to up and stop doing anything he's ordered to do.

Considering his previous work ethics and how he had diligently worked, completing all tasks assigned to him, the Lawyer was stupefied to find his requests refused. Bartleby's response of "I would prefer not to" for every request led the narrator unable to even scold him. Bartleby's calm yet firm response for all tasks and his slogan of "I would prefer not to" is the main focus of the story. And in consideration to that response, the use of the word "not a word" greatly emphasizes the lack or absolute absence of response from the expected man.

2. How will Polonius know if Laertes is misbehaving in France?
Kisachek [45]

Answer:

Polonius tells Reynaldo to give Laertes money and "notes". He tells Reynaldo to talk to other people in France and suggest that Laertes is gambling, drinking, fencing, swearing, fighting, & sleeping around. If someone agrees then it confirms Laertes is misbehaving and if they don't agree then he is behaving.

How would i write a thesis statement
Zanzabum
A thesis statement is what you're trying to prove with your paper. That means you are trying to prove it. It can be both factual if you're attempting to write a research paper or an opinion with solid reasons to back it up. When writing a thesis you don't want to write it about something obvious that someone could easily pick up themselves. You want to tell the reader something they didn't know before or something that makes them think.

gulaghasi [49]

Lexical ambiguity is the presence of two or more possible meanings for a single word. It's also called semantic ambiguity or homonymy. It differs from syntactic ambiguity, which is the presence of two or more possible meanings within a sentence or sequence of words.
