A) Linear velocity, v = ωr           ω = Angular velocity, r = radius.

ω = 5 revolutions per minute.  1 minute = (1/60) hour.

= 5*2π radians / (1/60) hour = 600π radians per hour          π = 3.14

= 600*3.14 = 1884 radians / hour

but radius, r = 10 feet,  5280 feet = 1 mile,  10 feet = (10/5280) mile

Linear velocity, v = ωr

                       v = 1884 radians / hour *  (10/5280) mile
                       v ≈  3.568 miles / hour

Your friend and your cousin discuss measuring with a ruler. Your friend says that you must always line up objects at the zero on
Maurinko [17]

Answer:

Your friend is correct.

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that your friend says that you must always line up objects at the zero on a ruler. Your cousin says it does not matter.

We need to decide who is correct.

When we measure the length of any object we have to line up objects at the zero on a ruler, so that mark on the rules along the other end of the object represents the length of the object.

Let we have a pencil of length 5 cm.

If we place the rules on 0, then 5 is the mark on the rules along the other end of the pencil. So, height of the pencil is 5 cm.

If we place the rules on 1, then 6 is the mark on the rules along the other end of the pencil. So, height of the pencil is 6 cm, which is not correct.

Therefore, your friend is correct.

Find the standard form of the equation of the parabola with a focus at (7, 0) and a directrix at x = -7.
Alecsey [184]

Answer:

y^2 = 28x

Step-by-step explanation:

Since the directrix is horizontal, use the equation of a parabola that opens left or right.

(y−k)^2 = 4p(x−h)

Find the vertex.

(0,0)

Find the distance from the focus to the vertex.

p = 7

Substitute in the known values for the variables into the equation

(y−k)^2 = 4p(x−h).

(y−0)^2 = 4(7)(x−0)

Simplify.

y^2 = 28x
