1. Mitch needs to do his laundry. It takes him 75 minutes to do each load when he washes and dries the load. It takes him 43 les

s minutes if he hangs up his laundry to dry. He decides to hang up one load of laundry to dry.
Mitch writes the equation 75x - 43= 332 where x is the number loads of laundry he needs to do in order to determine how long it is going to take him.

the next step Mitch wrote to solve the equation is shown here: 75x = 375

Which property did he use to get to this step?

Hint: Mitch has to do the opposite of subtract 43 to both sides.

A. addition property of equality

B. subtraction property of equality

C. combining like-terms

2. Lacey has $20 to spend at the movie theater. She spends $10.25 on the movie ticket, and $2.25 each on boxes of candy. The inequality 10.25 + 2.25c <_ can be used to determine c, the number of boxes of candy she can buy.

Which statements about the number of boxes of candy Lacey can buy are true?

Hint: Move the constant term to the right. Divide by the coefficient of the variable.

Select TWO that apply.

A. Lacey can buy 2 boxes of candy, but this number is neither the maximum or minimum number of boxes of candy she can buy.

B. The minimum boxes of candy Lacey can buy is 12.

C. Lacey can buy 5 boxes of candy.

D. Lacey can buy 4 boxes of candy.

3. Josephine is going on a run around the lake. She knows the distance around the lake. but she would like to complete her run in a certain amount of time. Josephine knows she can used the formula d=n

Which equation correctly rearranges the formula to find the time it will take her to run around the lake?

Hint: Isolate the t. In other words, move the r to the other side, do the opposite.

A. t = d - r
B. t = d/r
C. t = r/d

not sure if this is correct but 1. A ( reasoning: "Hint: Mitch has to do the opposite of subtract 43 to both sides." which means he had to add. 2. She can get no more than 4

This is very simple; don't you worry.
Let's start by breaking down the problem so that it's not overwhelming.
For now, we're only going to focus on the very beginning of the problem -- 4c.
When a number is next to a letter with no signs in between (in terms of this kind of math), the number is called a coefficient and the letter is called a variable. When you see this in math, it means that the coefficient is being multiplied by the variable. But how do you know what the variable is?
In other examples of math, you'd have to solve for the variable, but in this case, they already give it to you! Look back at the top... what does C equal? It equals 4! This means that 4c is actually 4x4, or 4(4)!
What we just did there, changing 4c to 4 multiplied by 4, is called substitution. You just substituted the c with 4. Now you know that to solve this, you need to use the method of substitution. What do you get if you substitute all of the variables with the numbers they equal (as shown above)...?

((4*-4)*5)((10(2*2))/(50(5)))+20(-1). You didn't use parentheses to separate the term /50d + 20q, so I'm assuming that the first part of the problem is only divided by just 50d, and not 50d+20q. In the future, be sure to clarify with parentheses. Anyway...
((4*-4)*5)((10(2*2))/(50(5)))+20(-1). Do NOT let this scare you. All the parentheses do is help you see what is being multiplied. All that's left is simple order of operations! You should get -340 as your answer.

In a box there are 9 action, 12 Disney, 8 horror, 11 mystery and 4 SciFi movies. What is the probability of selecting horror or
tigry1 [53]

Answer: 0.432

======================================================

Explanation:

There are 8+11 = 19 movies that are either horror or mystery.

This is out of 9+12+8+11+4 = 44 movies total.

Divide the two sums to get 19/44 = 0.43181818181818 approximately.

This rounds to 0.432

There's roughly a 43.2% chance of picking a horror or mystery movie.

17. A bag contains 2x yellow counters, 4x + 6 red counters and 6x - 10 blue counters. a. Write an expression, in terms of x, for
Natalija [7]

Answer: 12x-4, 14 counters, 8 more counters

Step-by-step explanation: There are 2x yellow, 4x+6 red, and 6x-10 blue counters. We need to add all of this up to get the total number of counters. We first add the x's : 2x+4x+6x = 12x. Then we add the numbers. 6+ (-10) is -4. So, our expression is 12x-4. Next, we need to find out how many blue counters are in the bag. We know that there are 44 total counters and we need to find x because all the counters have x in them. 12x-4 = 44. We first add 4 to both sides to get 12x= 48 and x = 4. blue has 6x-10 counters so, blue has 24-10 = 14 counters. Red has 16+6 = 22 counters. 22-14 = 8 more counters
