In this case we have a girl name Kayla who speaks about the different people that she has been meeting on her job. First, she meets two college students from the East Coast, and with them she has been learning interesting things about their lives. Then, she goes on to say that in her work, which is the cafe, she has also met the owner, who has become her mentor and has encouraged her to take an interest in the food service industry, to the point that now she is thinking about enrolling in the culinary arts program at her high school. In the two portions of the paragraph, Kayla is going back over to the fact of meeting new people on the job, and what comes out from such an experience, and that is why the central topic is You meet new people on the job.
