Which of the following individuals pardoned former confederates and did not attempt to protect the rights of newly freed slave
Rzqust [24]

C. Andrew Johnson

Andrew Johnson was the seventeenth president of the US and followed Lincoln after his assassination. He was a Democrat and as vice president offered a good bridge to the South as the Civil War was ending but as president he was not trusted by the Republicans.

Andrew Johnson pardoned Confederate leaders, allowing them to keep their land and sometimes positions in society. He provided an easy path back into the Union and did not protect blacks from the growing power of groups like the Ku Klux Klan. Johnson vetoed a civil rights act that would have prevented segregation and violence against former slaves. His policies would convince Republicans that they would have to take Reconstruction over in Congress.

murzikaleks [220]

Answer:

conflict between Native Americans and English in Virginia.

Explanation:

The constant attacks of Native American tribes in Virginia in 1676 provoked the reaction of the colonists, led by Bacon. They attacked the main defense site of the Indians and killed about one hundred and fifty of them. When the colonial authorities opposed this and arrested Bacon, an uprising broke out. After Bacon was liberated, some 400 uprisings marched with him, insisting that they had the right to defend themselves against the Indians.

Although an agreement was made, Bacon's rebellion was suffocated by the authorities.

In writing the Constitution what were the framers leery of while determining the role of president
hoa [83]

Answer:

Over the course of the constitutional convention, the delegates considered having the president chosen by Congress, but they feared the interdependence between the branches that would be engendered. They considered having the governors of the states or the state legislatures choose the president, but they likewise were anxious that the chief executive of the new souped-up federal government not be overly beholden to the state governments.
