Let child admissions be x and adult admissions be y. We can then use the information given to form a system of equations and solve that system.

The first equation is based on the information about the money made.

5.50x+8.60y=726.40

The second equation is based on the fact that twice as many adult tickets as child tickets were sold.

y = 2x

Since we have an equation equal to one of the variables, substitution will be the easiest way to solve this system. This is when we replace the variable of an equation with its value in the other.

5.50x+8.60y=726.40

5.50x+8.60(2x)=726.40

5.50x+17.2x = 726.40

22.7x = 726.40

x = 32

The number of children tickets sold was 32.

Extra:

To find the number of adult tickets can be found by plugging in the known value we found and solving for the other unknown.

y = 2x

y = 2(32)

y = 64

The number of adult tickets sold was 64.

If your meal costs $14 and you wish to leave a 20% tip, you can find the total amount to pay by mult. $14 by 1.20:

1.20($14) = $16.80.  The tip would be $2.80.

$8.50 shorts;6.5% markup:    1.065($8.50) = $9.05 total due.

please give me the area and perimeter for this shape and if possible please show your work I appreciate it :)
mariarad [96]
Solution
Short Answer P = 40 in
There are what looks like two parallel lines that are 7 inches long and two lines that are 13 inches long.

Perimeter = 2 * (Base + Slanted vertical lines that are parallel).
Perimeter = 2 * (7 + 13)
Perimeter = 2*20
Perimeter = 40 in

Area
Just in case you want it, the area is 11 * 7. The reason is that the height is perpendicular to the 7 in length.
