George explains to Slim how Lennie followed his instructions and trusted him every time and how he teased Lennie that he was “too dumb even to know he had a joke played on him.” Which gave him fun. The teasing came to an end when Lennie trusted George and agrees to jump in the river, where he almost drowned, “He near drowned before we could get him. An’ he was so nice to me for pulling him out. Clean forgot I told him to jump in.”, realizing how much power he had over Lennie and resolve to never tease him over his trust.
She commited daring acts like sitting in the front of the bus, where blacks weren't allowed, protesting during the civil rights movement, and inspired people to follow in her footsteps.
In response to the poem written by the shepherd to his love, the nymph is saying that his lovely idea of what life will be like together will quickly turn ugly.
The shepherd has promised his love all the beauty of nature...the waterfalls and flowers and glades and warmth of the sun, but the nymph reminds him that these things are fleeting and seasonal. Quickly the warmth of summer will be over, there will be no sheep in the fields and the meandering streams of summer will turn to cold raging rivers of winter and spring. Their love would be the same because it is based on his imagination and not reality.
