Answer:

B. He sees them as subordinates who benefit from his benevolence.

Explanation:

Trade restrictions on trade in other ports in China were a constant source of frustration for the Europeans of Canton. The British, as well as the Dutch and other Europeans, were eager to be able to access the North China market, closer to the tea and silk production centers, and organized several diplomatic missions to the Qianlong court in order to secure concessions of the throne The two most famous Western missions are the Macartney Mission of 1793, and the Titsingh Mission of 1794. The mission of Lord Macartney occurred at the behest of the British East India Company.

The mission was a failure. Lord Macartney and his entourage refused to practice the customary ritual prostration before the emperor, insisted at all times to establish diplomatic relations on an equal footing with China, and their requests were totally unacceptable to Qianlong, who rejected any commercial opening in the famous Second Edict of Qianlong to King George III. In it, Qianlong used Chinese ritual forms that implied that he treated the British monarch as a vassal. This caused great stupor in the United Kingdom

How did the compromise of 1850 affect slavery during manifest destiny
aksik [14]
Manifest Destiny basically mean, "EVERYONE MOVE TO THE WEST NOW!" But with no slaves, how would they create farms to maintain themselves? Easy: expand slavery. However, this was battled against by several sources to create the Compromise of 1850. The compromise delayed the Civil War, despite politicians knowing it will eventually happen. It bought them time-- that was important! Other new states like Nebraska and Kansas were allowed to allow slavery or not. This eventually grew to where the North had no slavery and the South did, which lead to the Civil War.
