Incongruities is the plural form of incongruity, which means out of place. It is something that doesn’t fit in a certain situation or location. An incongruity is very dissimilar from everything that surrounds it, reaching the point where it’s totally inappropriate to the situation. For example; A cat in a dog’s part would be an example of incongruity, as well as a peace-lover being present at the meeting of members of the War Lovers’ Society.

I need help on English homework
GrogVix [38]

Answer:

B - metaphor

Explanation:

Cavalries did not exist in 2009, making it impossible for it to have been serious. This is not a response or a question, so it is not C or D. Similes use 'as' or 'like' so we can get rid of that.

A metaphor is used to describe something by saying it is something that it is not. The thing that happened is being compared to the cavalry arriving, but since it says 'in 2009', we know it isn't literal.
