A line perpendicular to another occurs at the negative reciprocal of the slope of the original line. Why this is, I can further explain in the comments if you're interested. What is a reciprocal though? a reciprocal, if you're unfamiliar, is just the flipped form of it.

As an example, the negative reciprocal of 1/4 is -4/1. I multiplied 1/4 by a negative, and flipped the fraction.

So, what would the negative reciprocal of 3 be? well, you can imagine 3 to be 3/1 to help. so we multiply it by a negative, which gives us -3/1, and then we flip it, giving us -1/3. This is the slope of our unknown line. Because of this, we can mark out...well all of them haha. You need to double check your question and answers provided. With the info you've given me, none of your answers are correct. Let me know what happened if you can! if not, I would question your teacher, cause they messed up somewhere haha.

Which combination of integers can be used to generate the Pythagorean triple (5,12,13)
Kitty [74]

Answer:

x=3 and y=2

Step-by-step explanation:

The pythagorean triples are generated by two integrers x and y that can be found by solving the following system of equations:

\left \{ {{x^{2}-y^{2}=5}\atop {2xy=12}} \atop {x^{2}+y^{2}=13}}\right.

Solve the system of equations, and we get that the solution is x=3 and y=2.

Therefore, the combination of integrers that ca be used to generate the pythagorea triple are: x=3 and y=2

What is the radius of a sphere with a volume of 12,348 π cubic feet?
vova2212 [387]

Answer:

Radius = 21

Step-by-step explanation:

Volume of a sphere = 4/3 * pie * radius^3

12,348 pie = 4/3 * pie * radius ^3

12,348 = 4/3 * radius^3

(12,348 * 3)/ 4 = radius^3

9261 = radius^3

radius = \sqrt[3]{9261}

radius = 21

The distance between the horizontal legs be the distance between the 'x' values '-5' and '2'. 2+5=7 (It is +5 because the distance between -5 and 0 is 5*)
The distance between the horizontals is 7

Same with the vertical points, as the distance is 2. (1+1=2)

Considering that the pythagorean theorem is the a^2+b^2=c^2, and 'a' and 'b' are the sides, then you plug in '7' and '2', making the equation 7^2+2^2=c^2
49+4=c^2
53=c^2
c=sqrt(53)
Hope this helps.
