What are the advantages and disadvantages of using Marco filters?

Advantages: If you have children there's less opportunity for them to get access to an objectionable website as defined by the filters.

Disadvantages: Adults who have a legitimate need to access a website may have to turn the filter off. Example: public library filters that deny women access to medical sites about breast cancer because the word breast is objectionable.
