In the novel 'Lord of the Flies' by William Golding, Jack feels frustrated and thwarted because he was unable to hunt down and kill a pig. After trying a second time, and failing again, he feels much worse. He feels foolish, feeble and unmanly and probably thinks everyone is watching to see how well he does.
