Ferdinand Magellan left the port of Spain to start an expedition that aimed to find a sea route to the West in order to arrive to the Islands of Indonesia. Magellan’s crew were 270 men in five ships. They headed to West Africa and then to Brasil. They sailed until they found the strait that took them to the Pacific Ocean. Magellan’s expedition did not conduct trade along the way. It was just exploration.
