Mr. Dussel's introduction to the secret annex led to the other occupants having to deal with some of his negative attitudes. Anne was especially affected by Mr. Dussel as he had to share a room with her. He complained about most things Anne did and this frustrated Anne the more. He was also petty in his dealings. For example, he hoarded food which was ruled against in the annex.

2. Problems or complications that could arise from Mr. Dussel include;

  • risk of being discovered by the workers if he was not discrete: his frequent exchange of letters with his christian wife posed a huge risk to the annex.
  • shortage of food: hoarding of food was typical of Mr.  Dussel and this could cause problems of food shortage for the annex.
