Answer:

He said he had no frog.

Explanation:

Mark Twain's short story "The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" tells the incredulous story told to the narrator by another character. While he was on his search for a man named Leonidas W. Smiley, he encountered Simon Wheeler who told him about Jim Smiley instead.

In the story, Simon recounts how Jim had a very special frog which he claimed is the most intelligent of all frogs. One day, he met a stranger and boasted to him that his frog Dani'l Webster can out-jump any frog. Challenging him to a contest, the stranger accepts but said that he did not have any frog which prompts Jim to go looking for a frog to compete with his Dani'l. Once out of sight, the stranger began pouring lead shots down the throat of the frog, leading to his inability to jump once the competition starts. That was the defeat of Dani'l Webster, and even though Jim found out that he's been cheated, he couldn't catch the man anymore as he had been long gone.

galina1969 [7]

The correct answer is A) To prepare for the 10K race, since it's a stand-alone fragment (not a coherent sentence per se). Hope this helps; have a great day.

How does the scene between Whit and Slim, about Bill Tenner show the
Crazy boy [7]

Answer:

The scene between Whit and Slim, about Bill Tenner shows that they are ignorant and inexperience characters as they get distracted from the work they were about to do.

Explanation:

'Of Mice and Men' is a novella written by John Steinbeck. The novella is about two ranch workers - George and Lennie, set during the time of the Great Depression.

In Chapter 3 of the novella, Whit and Slim share a conversation about Bill Tenner. The conversation begin when Whit show Slim a letter published in Pulp Magazine, by Bill Tenner. Bill Tenner used to co-work with Whit in a ranch and seeing his letter published in Pulp Magazine is seen as a great achievement of Bill Tenner by Whit.

Yet, this scene reveals ignorance and inexperience of these characters as they got distracted from Candy's problem. Candy is about to get separated from his dog, who is old and has to been shot so that he didn't get hurt while dying. Carlson, Candy, and Slim were talking about this issue when Whit brings his own conversation in between, which clearly shows that these characters are ignorant and inexperience.
