The best answer here is that D.Maori and English versions of the treaty didn't match

1) if you look at the options themselves, you can already see that only the last one would be bad for the Maori- the rest would not be something to complain about

2) The Maori version sounded like the British offered only protection, and the English Version implied that the British would take over the government in the land
