Subjugation existed from old times. The thriving of Athens and Rome laid on the work of slaves. Besides, white Europeans did not straightforwardly oppress African blacks - they just purchased dark Africans who had as of now been subjugated by other dark Africans. It has been a malignant establishment doing a reversal into pre-history. Scripturally, the Jews were slaves of Pharaoh. Slaves constructed the Pyramids. Scheherazade was a slave of Haroun al-Rashid. Tunisian kitchen looters were paddled by slaves fastened to the paddles.

What is the effect of the choice by Orson Welles (author of the radio play) not to include much detail about the "cylinder"?
Nonamiya [84]
By not providing a great deal of detail about the "cylinder" in his radio production of War of the Worlds Welles helped to keep the origin of the alien invaders a mystery.  Welles probably chose to do such in order to keep the audience in suspense and to help convince them that the invasion is actually happening.
