The Masque of the Red Dead is a short story written by American author Edgar Allan Poe. Irony is a literary device used to express an incongruity between the expectations and the real situation. It can also show differences among the words and their real meaning.

Some examples are the name of the Prince, Prospero. Even though it means <em>rich</em>, <em>confortable</em>. However, bat things happen to him, such as death.

Another thing is how wealthy people enjoyed the party inside the castle, but they did not know that the Red Death was about to end with their lives.
