Answer:

C. He realized that no two people had the same fingerprint.

Explanation:

William Herschel was a civil servant, who worked for the British civil administration in Calcutta. Its function was to pay Indian employees. This was a very difficult function for Herschel. That's because he had to organize the payment of many people who were very similar to him. He could not recognize them either by appearance or by name, as they were very different names for him.

That's when he realized that one person's fingerprint is not the same as another person's fingerprint. Therefore, he decided to archive the fingerprint of all employees. Thus, every time an employee received his payment, he had to sign a document and leave the fingerprint mark on his index and middle fingers, to be compared to the stored fingerprint.

Which of the following is an example of maintaining homeostasis? Learning Jumping Shivering Smiling
Anestetic [448]
The answer is D, sweating.

Homeostasis is where the body uses some mechanisms to maintain a optimum condition for the body to function. These conditions may include body temperature, blood glucose level etc.

Sweating is a mechanism that can help maintain the body temperature. During hot conditions, the sweat glands under the skin surface may produce sweat, which is then released to the skin surface. When the sweat is on the skin surface, they evaporate. During evaporation, heat energy is brought away from the skin as the sweat molecules that have a higher kinetic energy (=temperature) escaped from the sweat drop. The average temperature of the sweat is reduced. Eventually, the temperature of the body is decreased and this help maintain the suitable temperature for the body to function.

Therefore, your answer is D, sweating.
