Using evidence from the song and the sources you identified during the research you performed in Section 2 (“Research Question”)
sineoko [7]

Answer:The person who wrote the lonesome death of Hattie Carroll was Bob Dylan. The main incident in the song took place on February 9, 1963. The man in the song assaulted three hotel workers. Zantzinger was arrested and did not have a trial, but was put in jail. Hattie Carroll was a African-American woman who had between 9 and 13 children and only worked for the hotel on special occasions when they needed a larger staff. Carroll had high blood pressure which contributed to her death according to the autopsy. Zantzinger was convicted of manslaughter on August 23, 1963.

Identify whether this sentence is written in active or passive voice. Spectators filled the stadium
Paul [167]

Answer:

Active.

Explanation:

First one must recognize the difference between active versus passive voice. Active voice is where the subject is put before the predicate, and passive is where the predicate ie put before the subject.

Example:

Sally drove her car. --> Active voice, because subject is first.

Subject predicate

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The car was driven by Sally --> Passive voice, because predicate is first.

          predicate Subject

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Furthermore, you can break down the predicate into the object and action. Using the same example below...

Sally drove her car --> Active, because subject is first.

subject action object

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The car was driven by Sally--> Passive, because action and object are first.

Object action Subject

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In your example, your subject (Spectators) are first and your action and object (filled the stadium) are second. Therefore, it is active voice. (also, remember that your action and object can be combined to form the predicate.)

Hope this helps!

The african pot by Fhazel Johennesse comment on the structure of the poem
matrenka [14]

By analyzing the structure of this poem, we can see that the poem is composed of six stanzas and thirty lines. Each stanza has a different number of lines, the poem has no rhymes and no punctuation.

The structure of a poem refers to how that poem is organized and how the reader can perceive it as soon as he observes it.

In "The African Pot" we can see a non-standardized and spontaneous structure and this is directly related to the message of the poem, since:

  • The poem refers to the daily life of a small African village.
  • The events that take place in the village are spontaneous and non-standard, as is the organization of the stanzas and lines of the poem.
  • Everything that happens in the village is very simple, nothing is highlighted, as well as the lines of the poem that do not have punctuation or rhymes.
  • Despite its simplicity, the village is an admirable place, as is the poem with its simple and tranquil structure.

Based on this, we can conclude that as soon as we look at the structure of the poem, we get the impression that the poet made no effort to present a standard and well-established structure, but soon after we realized that the poet made an effort to make the structure follow the narrative presented in the poem.
