1) the drawing of borders: many European countries still have borders as drawn by the colonial powers: that's why many of them are straight lines.
2) many African countries adopted the languages of their European Colonial powers
3) many white people settled in Africa and had privilaged life while the indigenous black population suffered (mostly under Apartheid)

Three effects of Euro[pean Imperialism on Africa are:

 1. Increase in revolution and war due to insurgency in many countries.
 2. Demise of African resident due because of European diseses.
 3. Scarcity of natural resources.

Further Explanations:

European imperialism or conquest of Africa was the colonization of African territory by the Europeans somewhat during 1881 which is also known as New Imperialism. By 1870 Europeans were able to occupy only 10 % of the African territory but by 1914they engaged 90 % of the total continent except Liberia, Ethiopia and Dervish State. The desire of colonization of Africa was for the quest of valuable natural resources present in the continent.

The ultimate point of the imperialism of Africa was the Berlin Conference held in 1884, that regulated the European trade and colonization. By 1900 much of the territories of Africa was under the colonization of Germany, France, Belgium, Portuga, Spain, Italy, and Britain. The colonies not even plundered the natural resources but also brought European diseases along with them that took too many lives.

What is the meaning of this quote? "A leader is best when people barely know he exists; when his work is done, his aim fulfilled
r-ruslan [8.4K]
The meaning of this quote "A leader is best when people barely know he exists; when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say; we did it ourselves" means if the leader is unknown to many people once he has finished or achieved a remarkable goal other people (such as Laozi) can steal the glory and be remembered for something they didn't do.

Answer:

Transcendentalism is an American literary, political, and philosophical movement of the early nineteenth century, centered around Ralph Waldo Emerson. Other important transcendentalists were Henry David Thoreau, Margaret Fuller, Amos Bronson Alcott, Frederic Henry Hedge, and Theodore Parker. Stimulated by English and German Romanticism, the Biblical criticism of Herder and Schleiermacher, and the skepticism of Hume, the transcendentalists operated with the sense that a new era was at hand. They were critics of their contemporary society for its unthinking conformity, and urged that each person find, in Emerson's words, “an original relation to the universe” (O, 3). Emerson and Thoreau sought this relation in solitude amidst nature, and in their writing. By the 1840s they, along with other transcendentalists, were engaged in the social experiments of Brook Farm, Fruitlands, and Walden; and, by the 1850s in an increasingly urgent critique of American slavery.

Explanation: Queen Elizabeth I was sovereign of England, meaning she had upmost authority and rule, compared to the monarchy today. Elizabethan government operated on a hierarchical system. Elizabethans believed that God had appointed the monarch and she had the power and status to grant jobs to those below her. They in turn granted rewards and jobs to the people below them and so on. The Court was the centre of political power in Elizabethan England and wealthy people went to court to try and win the favour of the queen.
