The 1968 election is a turning point in US political history because it saw the end of the New Deal coalition. The New Deal coalition was the alignment of interest groups and voting blocs in the United States that supported the New Deal and voted for Democratic presidential candidates from 1932 to 1960s.

Why weren't the early american colonies prosperous?
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

The early American colonies weren't prosperous because the countries like France, England etc constantly jostled for power and ignored the need of the colonies and the natives.

Explanation:

The constant power struggles among the colonialists led them to ignore the condition of the colonies they had acquired.

The colonies were made to cultivate crops like tobacco instead of food. This brought in an acute food shortage. Also, the colonialists never focused on developing the colonies.

The colonized lands were used to bring in wealth for the colonialists and health, economy and hygiene of the colonies were totally ignored.

Explain how the murder of Tunstall started Billy the Kid on a killing spree.
allsm [11]

Answer:

In retaliation for the murder of Tunstall, the Regulators killed Sheriff William Brady. This action was followed by a posse and federal troops pursuing McSween and his men. The battle between the McSween crowd of 41 men and the Sheriff’s party of 15 gunslingers, was at a stalemate for 3 days until soldiers from Fort Stanton joined in. On day 5 they set McSween’s house on fire and shot people as they fled. McSween was shot, but Billy the Kid escaped with Susan McSween. From that time on, Billy the Kid stole and killed with a vengeance.
