The theme of this story is sin, and its consequences. Mallam Sile is a blind tea seller, he is gentle, and people usually take advantage of him and his blindness, but he doesn't really react to that. He finds a wife who is not afraid to punish his bullies, and thus return everything that was stolen from him.
