Answer: (D) Only cell B forms a cell plate during cytokinesis.

Explanation: The “cell cycle” describes the process that cells go through, from their “birth” as new daughter cells, until they themselves are ready to split and become “parent cells” to two new daughter cells. The formation of the cell plate takes place during the mitotic phase.

Hemophilia is a hereditary bleeding disorder that primarily affects males. Why does this condition typically affect males more t
Ymorist [56]

Answer:

See the answer below

Explanation:

Hemophilia typically affects more males than females because the disorder is X-linked and recessive.

Females have two X chromosomes (XX) while males only have one X and one Y chromosome (XY). The two X chromosomes in females are capable of carrying alleles while the Y chromosome in males is hypothesized not able to carry alleles.

Consequently, the two X chromosomes in females will both need to carry the recessive allele of hemophilia in order for any female to be affected for hemophilia while the males only need their single X chromosome to carry the recessive allele in order to be affected.

In order words, the presence of a single recessive allele is not enough for a female to be affected while it is more than enough for a male to be affected. Hence, more males are affected b hemophilia disorder than females.

A transmembrane protein has the following properties: it has two binding sites, one for solute A and one for solute B. The prote
Usimov [2.4K]

Answer:

The protein is a symport protein.

Explanation:

Transport proteins are proteins which are involved in the transport of solutes across the cell membrane. The binding of the solute to be transported across the membrane causes a conformational change in the shape of the protein, thereby moving the molecule to the side of nthe membrane it is to be transported. The difference in the concentration of the solute across the membrane known as concentration gradient is mainly responsible for the transport of molecules by the transport proteins.

There are three types of transport proteins: uniport, symport and antiport transport proteins.

Uniporters are involved in moving only one molecule across a membrane

Symporters are involved in moving two or more molecule across a membrane in the same direction.

Antiporters are involved in moving two or more molecule across a membrane in opposite directions.

From the description of the transport protein in the question, both solutes A and B are moved across the membrane simultaneously in the same direction. Therefore, the protein is a symport protein.
