Ans: National income tax was a key victory for progressives after Gilded Age when money ruled. A century ago, progressives instituted a national income tax with the idea that those who made more would pay a higher rate than those who made less.
The Confucian ideal regarding Chinese families is strictly hierarchical. It basically favors the older than the young ones and females are supposed to be subordinated to men. The women are expected to stay at home and educate their sons and do the household chores while men work for the family. The Confucian ideal also encourages the family to have sons rather than having daughters.
