The ruling of 1832 originated in a lawsuit presented by Samuel Worcester against the state of Georgia, which had sanctioned laws that allowed for white settlement in what were considered Native American lands, this was ruled as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

The infamous Trail of Tears refers to the passage that Native Americans underwent when expelled from their lands in the Sotheast.  It gets its name due to the fact that around thirteen thousand natives died during the process of relocation before reaching Indian Territory.
