The theme developed in the story is about "Truth and Lies".

•Story explores whether lying is sometimes justifiable. •Kevin tells truth to Waldo that father helped with Latin homework and is punished for it –ironic, since particularly in strict Catholic school, lying would be considered a sin and truth something to be encouraged and rewarded instead of punished. •Kevin lies to father that Latin was fine and is rewarded by father feeling relieved because he “was a bit worried about it” and has not hurt father’s pride in academic ability nor made him feel guilty as might be if knew that Kevin had been caned for his wrong answers. • Kevin “laughed and slipped his hand into the warmth of his father’s overcoat pocket, deep to the elbow”. Story ends showing happiness and closeness of Kevin’s relationship with father intact, which would not be case if he had told truth; author inviting reader to decide whether lying sometimes justifiable, therefore.

I’m the “first seven years” by Bernard Malamud, how is the climax of the story also and epiphany
s2008m [1.1K]

At the beginning of the story, Feld, the shoemaker, yearned for his daughter to marry a man with a promising and wealthy future, so she could live a happy life. Later in the story, after two dates between both Miriam (her daughter) and Max (a young student), Feld was told by Miriam that she was not interested in Max, given her materialistic nature. Feld did not understand her reason at the time, but didn't give it much thought.

Near the end of the story, Feld realized Sobel's (his assistant) feelings for her daughter, but wasn't very comprehensive about them, given Sobel's old age and poor living conditions.

While watching Sobel's scorn after having his desires represed and considering Miriam could like Sobel in return, Feld had his epiphany: He grew comprehensive of Sobel's endurance to escape a land at war and to find any humble source of sustain available. Considering this hardship and his efforts to read books to gain interest from Miriam, Feld understood these endeavors were far more attractive and valuable to Miriam than that of a life of riches with Max. Feld learned about humble love.

Assessment 2: Think of Me
salantis [7]

Based on the question given, a paragraph about how I faced my greatest challenge is explained below:

The greatest challenge I have had till now was my challenge with Mathematics. While growing up, I was bad with Mathematics, I disliked anything that had to do with calculations. There was a particular day in school that our examination scripts were given back to us. I realized that I had the lowest score in Mathematics. I was sad and I told myself that I was going to work harder. I have improved tremendously now and I'm happy I tackled my challenge.
