Hey there!

The difference between simple past tense and past principal verbs is how complex the phrase is (in other words, how many words are used to express the verb). An example of a past tense verb would be "She doodled on the paper", while the past principal version of that would be "She had doodled on the paper", or something like that. Simple past tense uses one word while principal uses two words to express the same thing.

In your example for Part A, "suppressed" is one word. This means the answer is "past", since "ed" is still used but only one word describes the action. Similarly, for Part B, the sentence would use one word, which is "sat". It's past tense but only one word.

Lastly, for your third question, the phrase for past principal would be "had talked", as it uses "ed" and two words.

Hope this helped you out! :-)

LINDA: Forgive me, dear. I can't cry. I don't know what it is, but I can't cry. I don't understand it. Why did you ever do
dimulka [17.4K]

Answer:

I believe the answer is A. soliloquy.

Explanation:

A soliloquy is an act of speaking one's thoughts aloud when by oneself or regardless of any hearers, especially by a character in a play. Linda says, "Help me, Willy, I can’t cry. It seems to me that you’re just on another trip. I keep expecting you. Willy, dear, I can’t cry. Why did you do it? I search and search and I search, and I can’t understand it, Willy. I made the last payment  on the house today. Today, dear. And there’ll be nobody home." Her husband, Willy has died, but she is still speaking her thoughts out loud to him.
