George Washington was a planter who spent a good amount of time trying to gain economic independence from London merchants who purchased his crops. He got frustrated at the unfair laws British parliament put out and grew frightful of the riots and civil disobedience developing because of them. He would lose a lot if rebellion took place. However, he did believe Americans were being taxed without representation.
