Answer:

Literature is more than just written words, but rather a message conveyed by the author.

Explanation:

This passage written by Connie Willis reflects an aspect of literature that deserves to be analyzed.

It speaks to us of literature as a message from the past, and we could say that this is exactly what it is.

The best-known authors of literature such as William Shakespeare, Charles Dickens or Edgar Allan Poe, among others, are people who lived in the past and who have shown us their reality and have transmitted their messages to us through the renowned works they wrote.

Also, the quote has the following phrase: <em>"trying to tell us about life and death". </em>

Without hesitation, one author who stood out on this topic was Emily Dickinson. Not only did it stand out, it was a revolution for literature. Emily seemed to have an obsession and fascination with life and death. In her poem<em> "Because I could not stop for Death"</em> she talks about death as a friend who comes to visit her at night, and takes her to her grave, where she realizes that death was not really her friend. And that the grave was a cold and lonely place.

As well as these we have many examples, because literature is the deepest thought of those who write it. It is a personalized message of their way of seeing the world and through the tone, imagery, themes and all the literary devices that exist, they make the reader feel what they want to express.
